Inspired by all the beautiful clothing available on our Stellenbosch doorstep, I felt the urge to put together some classic and elegant pieces sourced from a few of our local boutiques. You’d be surprised by the world-class quality and style that can be added to your wardrobe after just one short spree.
I don’t know about you, but for me the thought of driving to Cape Town to go shopping for clothes (with three little ones in tow) has me shuddering in last season’s shoes. I’d rather spend less time on the road and use my available time more wisely by shopping locally. So, here’s an intro to a few of my favourite boutiques, and a sneak peek at what we created.
Indian Summer started 18 years ago and prides itself in showcasing up-to-date fashions from Europe alongside the very best of South African designed clothing and accessories. They aim to give insightful service with detailed product knowledge in a stress-free environment. Expect a private shopping experience with personal advice to find the perfect outfit for any occasion. You’ll even get help on how to update old-favourite pieces and advice on how to make the most of those difficult “not sure how to wear and with what” pieces in your wardrobe.
Here you’ll find 100% pure cashmere knitwear, gold-plated semi-precious stone jewellery, cotton and silk kaftans from India, and a beautiful collection of silk, linen and cotton items that are made locally under their own label.
Coppélia store stocks feminine and timeless pieces that will bring your signature look to life. Add magic and harmony to your wardrobe with tops, bottoms, dresses, kaftans and jackets featuring interesting textures and soft tonal colours. Their clothing is ethically made in small batches in Cape Town, and I respect that they choose to produce this way to avoid waste. Pieces are often limited edition, which means you and only a few others will own them.
Love That Shop is the home of adventurous fashion that celebrates comfort, uniqueness and flare. By browsing their collections you’re sure to find that signature garment for all upcoming adventures. From bold blouses to pretty paisley dresses, quirky summer knits and sophisticated blazers, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Shelley Taylor Designs is a legendary jewellery store situated on Church Street and is a real treasure chest of unique bracelets, earrings and necklaces fit for any occasion. I have huge respect for their high-quality craftsmanship. Whatever you choose, or have designed by collaborating with them, you’re sure to look as beautiful as a bride on any given day.
LE | RU offers carefully curated accessories for our modern ladies inspired by the Capetonian lifestyle. A collection of all things pretty, you can shop a variety of accessories that best suit your style.
Desray is a firm favourite of mine. And how could it not be, with an owner inspired by the female form, patriotism to her country, and the beautiful people in it? Her design has always been about crafting pieces that are creatively unique and that make women feel wonderful about themselves. Their must-have cotton designs in playful prints are great for your summer staycation.
