Our newborn’s nursery reveal.
If you haven’t read my post about how wallpaper can add the WOW factor to a space then take a look here. For those of you who have read it, you’ll know that I’m very excited to share our newborn’s nursery reveal with you, but what I haven’t told you is that it’s mostly because all the décor items are from local small business owners.
It is such a pleasure to support proudly South African designers like Cara Saven from Cara Saven Wall Design and Lexi from XOXO Pottery in Cape Town. I believe that these two entrepreneurs’ products have elevated this room in a significant way and not much had to be added afterwards. The Madame Butterfly Muse from Lexi’s contemporary ceramic range is just such a phenomenal piece and adding the dry flower arrangement gave it that extra special touch that was needed for this little corner of her room.
For the wallpaper I opted for the Lady Edith design from Cara Saven this time around. It is part of their Kids Collection and as with all her designs, it can be redesigned to suit your wall size and shape with additional changes that can also be made to the color and scale of the design at your request.
I sourced the rest of the soft décor mostly online from other local small business owners and came across some wonderful products. I also found The Local Edit App that was recently launched by Christine Meintjes to be very useful. Once you have downloaded the app to your phone you are able to access a beautifully curated variety of local brands all in one place which makes it so much easier!
Some of the items were also hand-me-downs from a very dear friend. She kindly gifted me with the things that she didn’t need anymore since both her children are older now. I find this to be a lovely act of kindness and it brings an authentic and sentimental element to the décor process, knowing that everything isn’t brand new. I can’t wait to do the same for someone else once my children are a bit older.
I hope you have enjoyed this post as much as I did writing it!
