Fab Baby Shower Venues Round-up | 2018

Fab baby shower venues round-up | 2018

I am always amazed at how quickly things change in Stellenbosch.  New restaurants and coffee shops seem to pop up monthly and then, the next time I go to town, I find that the “new” coffee shop has been (choose any one of the following): A) closed down, B) taken over by a new owner, or C) been totally revamped.  I am therefor always excited to sit down and write the baby shower venues round-up post as I know it will definitely not look the same as the previous list.  It is always sad for me to find that some venues have closed since the last post was written, but I am equally thrilled by the discovery of new fabulous venues to add to the list.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing the baby shower venues round-up post for 2018 and this time round I must say that we have got the prettiest list of venues we have ever had!  We have also gone to great lengths to find venue options that range from pricey to more affordable in order to cater for all sorts of budgets.  I do hope you find some inspiration with these beautiful venues next time you are organising a baby shower!

1. Tokara Delicatessen

Tokara’s deli is not only a favourite for coffee or breakfast, but it is a stunning venue for a baby shower.  Book the private function room to host your bestie’s baby shower in style (photo above).  The room has glass walls on two sides: on one side looking into the olive oil press room and on the other side overlooking the terrace at the deli’s entrance.  Read more about Tokara’s deli in our post Tokara’s Delicatessen remains a family favourite.

2. Weltevreden Restaurant

Weltevreden is close to town and yet offers a very peaceful surrounding next to a river stream.  Plastic jungle gyms that are of a smaller size (than the ones in the Weltevreden Carnival area) will keep small toddlers busy while the moms celebrate away.  Book a table outside if you wish for guests to bring their kiddos along.  The tables inside allow for more privacy and are perfect for Winter baby showers.  Ask for a private table if you have got a more intimate celebration in mind.

3. Mont Marie

Mont Marie is always a pretty and picture perfect venue for a baby shower.  If you are planning a shower for the moms to bring their children along, book a table outside near the play area.  You get to have the perfect outside venue and the children can play in the enclosed play area.  Read more about Mont Marie in the post Mont Marie, casual gourmet dining for the whole family.

4. Tea under the Trees – Paarl

It does not get any prettier than Tea under the Trees!  This fabulous venue in Paarl is an outside venue that is only open during the Summer months, usually from end of September to the middle of April.  Tea under the Trees is unique as it is run on a beautiful working wine farm and the tables are set right in the middle of the Manor house’s lush garden.  There is ample space for children to play if you wish to include the little ones.

5. Pierneef @ La Motte – Franschhoek

At La Motte’s Pierneef Restaurant you can organise a set breakfast menu for your baby shower.  The food is delicious and maybe on the expensive side but definitely worth it.  I have attended two baby showers at the restaurant for which I was asked to pay for my own breakfast upon receiving the invite.  I think it was approx. R100 per head if I remember correctly?  The breakfast is scrumptious, served in style at your table and excellent value for money.   A table looking out into the courtyard finishes off the whole pretty picture.  Enjoy!

6. Franschhoek Cellars – Franschhoek

The Platform Bar & Bistro at Franschhoek Cellar is a great venue if you need to allow for children to attend a baby shower.  The enclosed play area is watched by child attendants, making it easier for the moms to focus on showering the mom-to-be with gifts and words of encouragement.  The Platform Bar & Bistro has large windows with stunning views on the vineyards and mountains.  The sounds and sights of the Franschhoek wine tram passing by ever so often gives the venue a real authentic feel.  Book a table at the end of the Bistro that is closest to the play area for the moms to go and check on their young ones every now and again.

7. At the End Jonkershoek

Opt for a rustic setting in the peaceful Jonkershoek by throwing a baby shower at the coffee shop at the entrance to the Jonkershoek nature reserve.  At the End Jonkershoek is a coffee shop frequented by nature lovers and outdoor sport junkies all year round. The coffee shop has a beautiful wooden deck under a big, old tree that provides the perfect platform to set a long table for a relaxed baby shower.

8. Webersburg

Organise a special high tea at the bistro at the beautiful Webersburg.  The high tea costs R65 per person (March 2018 prices) which includes a number of bite-sized sweet treats.  Drinks excluded and to be paid for separately.  Take note that you have to book the high tea in advance and have to pay for the number of guests on the day that you had  confirmed beforehand.  If guests are paying for themselves make sure to gather monies beforehand so that you as host don’t end up paying for all the “no-shows” on the day itself.  This is the perfect venue if you are interested in a high tea celebration.

9. Katjiepiering Restaurant, Botanical Garden

This eco-friendly baby shower venue is last on the list, but it is certainly not the least!  It is a great option to host a baby shower that is central to town.  The venue, set in the middle of the Botanical Garden, makes for a very special and tranquil setting.   Book the private room or its patio that is set in the rain forest part of the garden for a unique baby shower celebration.  The patio may be seen in the photo above.  Please contact the Katjiepiering Restaurant for more information and to make reservations.  Also read our post on the Botanical Garden in Stellenbosch for more info and photos.
