A new exhibit, The Big Bug Expo making its first appearance in South Africa at Jan Marais Nature Reserve Stellenbosch, Western Cape, featuring the amazing behaviors and extreme characteristics of some of the earth’s most fascinating creatures—insects.

The Big Bug Expo, which will open 20th, 21st and 22nd September 2019 will feature six giant, moving, hissing, clicking insects from different parts of the world. Imagine this:, a 6m Tarantula, a 6m Scorpion from head to tail.

The Big Bug Expo blends technology, science, artistry and imagination to capture the most unusual aspects of the insect world. Various animatronic insects such as, dung beetle to the exaggerated size of these creatures shines a creative spotlight on what makes them “extreme.” “Not only are these enormous animatronic insects such fun to examine up close, but we can also learn a lot about their importance in our ecosystem, extreme behaviors and the physical characteristics that allow bugs to thrive and survive.

School kids and families will experience a bug’s-eye view of their world, explore critter calls, ride a bug train, and participate in. A variety of live reptiles and insects will be on view for close-up inspection. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm, educators will give short insect talks and answer questions. Magnifying glass and live insects for kids educational activities will be available.

The Outdoor phenomenal exhibition is a great value day outing for the whole family at Westville Park Garden, Date: 20th, 21st and 22nd September 2019, Time 10am to 6pm, Ts and Cs will apply.

Big Bug Expo is very popular world wide, most of its events have been sold out, we advise our customers to purchase tickets in advance in order to avoid disappointments on the day. Because of venue Capacity we are forced to have limited numbers of visitors for each event day. If you do not have tickets until the event day you are not guaranteed access as we will have very limited quantities of tickets at the door

School Group Bookings, a minimum of 20 school kids in school uniform will pay R50 per child. This price is applicable during the week only.
