Signs of spring
This time of the year it is hard to resist the subtle call of the new season. Spring is slowly revealing itself with its beautiful array of fragrances and colourful blossoms.
As always, I asked my go-to florist to help me turn our cosy winter abode into a fresh and colourful springtime sanctuary. As we watch the garden come alive outside, my family and I can enjoy the welcome reminder inside that sunshine and warmer days are just around the corner.
I wanted to add colour and bring the idea of abundance to life in the house with floral arrangements arranged on our home’s mantelpieces, windowsills and tabletops. Fresh spring bulbs and pastel-coloured flowers were my inspiration for our seasonal home décor transformation. We love supporting local suppliers and sourced some of the flowers from Fanna & Flora outside Klapmuts. The rest of the arrangements are made up of foliage from our homestead. Here is what we did:

Yellow lupins adorn the dining room table with pink salmon clarkias for a touch of femininity (perfect for a house filled with sweet little girls). Throughout the home, we also added poppies to form a burst of colour among the lighter pastel colours. Wildflowers were foraged for the fireplace area and willow branches were taken from our homestead for the living room to add that natural beauty among the more refined décor and floral styling. Intricate snapdragons and bells of Ireland brought balance to the entrance with pink pokers and white delphiniums added for some flair.
With the pink blossoms all over the home, a big branch was included in our entrance hall for that extra touch, and it’s in bloom as we speak! For more images take a look at my Instagram account here.

With the scents of spring lingering in our home, I hope that this new season brings hope and many happy moments to you too!
Happy spring!
