Celebrate in Stellenbosch this Father’s Day

  1. MCC/Wine & Oyster pairing at De Warenmarkt

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend in style at the 3rd annual Oyster Fest at De Warenmarkt from 15 – 17 June. For every four guests, one free pairing of 3 oysters and a glass of wine OR MCC can be enjoyed. All dads will receive a free coffee of their choice at the Oyster Fest Father’s Day brunch, too.

The whole family can also enjoy a spectacular e-bike tour of Stellenbosch on Sunday, taking in some fresh air, beautiful nature and lovely views. Starting at 9am or 13:30 from De Warenmarkt, a guide will take you along Eerste River and historic buildings in town and into the nature reserve, ending at Lanzerac and Stark-Conde.

Tucked away on a farm in Stellenbosch, this rustic braai-based restaurant is gifting all dads with a free three-course braai meal to the value of R265 on Father’s Day. Join dad for lunch and live music from 12:00.

Note: A minimum of three other dining guests is required for him to qualify for his free meal.

Vine Bistro is a hidden gem on Glenelly Estate – the perfect spot to enjoy superb French-inspired dishes to enjoy in a warm and elegant setting. Cosy up to the fireplace on chilly days, or gather in the lovely wine-tasting area above the restaurant, but if the sun is out, sit at one of the long wooden tables on the outside deck under the pergola and enjoy beautiful views of the vineyards and surrounding hills.

The Hussar Grill, a tried and tested local favourite, has been serving perfect steaks for over 50 years! Get comfortable and feel at home at one of Dad’s favourites and treat him to a steak and craft beer pairing. This Father’s Day, he’ll receive a complimentary Darling Brew with his meal.

Located in a stonewalled courtyard, which was once Joostenberg Wine Estate’s cattle enclosure, The Kraal restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy a rustic, farm-fresh lunch with the family.

This Father’s Day, indulge in kaiings, fresh breads and spreads for starters, followed by Cape Wagyu beef shin and roasted winter vegetables for mains and a decadent dark chocolate and almond cake for dessert.

Lunch is served from 12 to 2.30pm at R360 per person.

This Father’s Day, treat Dad to a hearty breakfast or a three-course lunch. For breakfast, he can choose between a smoked trout salad, a farmhouse breakfast or a chorizo-and-haricot-bean stew.

For lunch, there’s a selection of charcuterie served with freshly baked breads and as a starter. Main course is a choice between Cape linefish and West coast mussel stew, roast beef rump with glazed root vegetables and sticky sesame seed Joostenberg pork ribs, followed by a savoury cheeseboard for dessert.

The Stellenbosch Taproom is the perfect setting for Father’s Day. While Dad sips on a cold beer brewed on site, relaxing under the trees, the kids can play on the jungle gym and mom can enjoy the tranquil green setting complete with lush green lawns and a pond inhabited by geese!

Dad can tuck into slow-roasted pork ribs served with a Stellies pint, a Boland platter or a bowl of chunky tomato, vegetable, bacon and chorizo soup before enjoying a warm dark-and-white chocolate brownie.
